New Modern Blues Rock singer songwriter, guitarist, Eliot Wayne Partridge lives in Austin, Texas. He’s been playing guitar since he was young and writing music for over 30 years. His influences early on in life were: the Doobie brothers, Three dog night, the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry. Also Steve Winwood, ZZ TOP, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Journey, Eric Johnson, Robert Cray, Bad Company were huge and Ozzy Osbournes music and band. Van Halen, Lynard Skynard, Metallica,
living colour, Stone Temple pilots, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Winger, The Eurythmics, Pat Benetar, Whitney Houston, .. A lot of different 50’s 60’s 70’s and 80’s music. Everly Brothers, Genesis and the members solo. Heart for sure, Fleetwood Mac, the groups or the Grunge Seattle sound as well.. Mostly Alice in Chains and Nirvana. The arc angels, Eric Gales band, Driving Cryin and Candlebox, Helmet, White Zombie, COC. There’s others.
He started getting more into Country and Bluegrass when he moved to Texas. More Jerry Reed and Vince Gil. Also discovered the Gap Band at that point so the mix of those styles was apparent.
Before moving to Austin, Eliot had a band called the Daily Blues in Lincoln Nebraska. Original members were Matt Dissmeyer and Joe Vodicka. Then Jamie and Fred took over. With a short stint of drumming from Shane Rutherford, a talented youngster from the Lincoln area. The Daily blues did a lot of opening shows for acts that would come through town. Notably the Paladins, Jimmy Thackery and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. He also was familiar with Chris Duarte after hearing his song ‘My way down ‘ on the radio.. Opening for Chris and his band (and seeing the show close up after) was always a massively cool experience. Chris was/is beyond amazing and always has a great band.
1996 til now
SInce coming to Austin in 1996 and continuing to try and cultivate the craft of new modern blues rock etc.. He originally played in a band with Trevor Detling- drums and Jemmie Hill – Bass. They recorded several songs including “We could be”. Then Brian Mendes – Drums, Dan Razzo – Drums and Jon Arredondo – Drums and Ben White – Bass.
He moved to California in the summer of 2000 for a couple of years and back to the midwest but has been in Austin again since 2003.
“There’s usually something to improve on or try from a different perspective, different pace, different attitude.. Learning how to work on something.. or multiple songs, paintings at once.. and being ok with pausing and putting them on a shelf for a time and pick back up again.. That”s been part of building what I have, up to this point.” He says. “Sometimes.. not often really but sometimes.. I will start a song and it will come out out quick.. The initial intent, idea I’m hoping to express, will stay apparent and be brought together, with lyrics I feel like fit. Then other times, I will start something and it’s more just moving and developing off itself.”
2005 recordings
In 2005, he did an Album with Brannen Temple – Drums. Nick Louis – Bass.
Revisiting the times he would hear Chris Duarte group on the radiback when he lived in Lincoln.. He and bass player Nick Louis were getting ready to do a recording and were in the studio with Dony Wynn. Dony was an incredible drummer and talented fellow overall. “Dony shared a lot of wisdom that I’m grateful for. It was super getting to be involved in all the pre production and practice with him and getting to know him some, it was sounded great but it just didnt work out.”. Eliot said.
Due to some disagreements on the day of the recording, the project took a different turn. A new drummer was needed and Eliot reached out to Brannen Temple and thankfully, he was willing to play on the project. Here are a couple songs from that Album.

New modern blues rock
Having a modern feel or something reasonably interesting about the sound, is something Eliot tries to keep in mind. Combinations of influences .. From Bluegrass to Classical music, Soul to Country, Ballads to thrash.. It all seems to come to fruition in a solo, duo or 3 piece band, with a rock, blues rock feel. How modern it is, I’m not sure.
Visual art
Eliots been a visual artist since he was young. Heres some of his work for sale as prints.
